ROOTS

We think of ungodly people and ungodliness to mean not believing in God.  In actuality, it is living a life that does not have roots in God (Psalms 1:4) and therefore separated from God.  Ungodly people might believe in God but their roots (who they depend on, follow and listen to) are not in God  and they instead have roots in a god that they created through things like money, success, status, etc. (Romans 1:28-32 & Jude 1:4)).  Ungodliness is internal thinking and priorities that are not rooted in God but rooted in want (Colossians 3:5 & 2 Timothy 2:14-16).  Both ungodly people and ungodliness choose to live a life that does not depend nor seek God.  Our behavior (external and internal) reflects our roots and the soil we put them in.  Either it will be based on ungodliness (rooted in anything other than God) or Godliness (rooted in God).  What we think, say and do is based on what we are rooted in.  Let your roots grow down into Jesus Christ and your life will be built on Him and who He is - Lord almighty (Colossians 2:7 & Romans 5:6). Therefore, pay attention to what you are putting and growing your roots into.
