REQUIREMENTS FOR PRAYER
There are two requirements for prayer. The first is confessing and declaring God’s greatness and goodness [1 Timothy 4:4 & Psalm 145:9] to go along with our expression of need (prayer request). A request of need that is interwoven with a sincere gratefulness for what God has done, is doing, and will do in your life [James 1:17]. To thank Him for His work in your past, present, and future and to thank Him ahead for His answer(s) to your prayers and for whatever HIs wise response and timing will be [Thessalonians 5:16-18]. The second is a sincere willingness to turn away from sin in your forward steps [James 5:16]. Not as perfect holiness but as intentional want, desire and action to have your steps forward reflect your willingness to have a life that is congruous to Godly living (living with God as the center of your life) in your thoughts, words and actions [Matthew 6:9-13]. These are the two principles of prayer that create alignment to the goodness of who God is and how we are to be as His children.
